Madeline Bailey - Blacksmith

“One of the most talented young blacksmiths in the field.”

Madeline first saw a blacksmith at Colonial Williamsburg and clearly remembers the fire and the noise. For being 10 years old, this was an amazing experience, and one that would influence her life from that moment on. Afterwards, Madeline became a loyal viewer of “Forged in Fire” and started watching blacksmithing videos on YouTube.

In 6th Grade, she needed to do a job shadow for a school assignment. She wanted to shadow a blacksmith. Fortunately, she met Doug Lockhart of Lockhart Ironworks in Logan, Ohio. Doug’s daughter, Danielle, is also nationally recognized blacksmith herself. Madeline still regularly apprentices with the Lockhart’s.

One of her first projects was a knife, which won her the Junior division at the Southern Ohio Forge Association Quad State Blacksmith Round-up.

She works at her forge in her parents’ garage and likes the creativity that metalworking provides. She enjoys researching new projects and learning new techniques with her own flare.
